As some of you guys already know I took a short trip to Dallas to visit some family. I had never been to Dallas before, but I can assure you that you want to go! We flew to Dallas (after a six hour delay), arrived Friday at 4 in the morning, and we left Sunday afternoon. I have a lot to write about the trip so I am dividing it into three parts (restaurants, places to go, and things to do/itinerary). Keep looking out for those posts!
Announcement: If you missed my post with eight of my favorite fall looks, click here. It's almost 60 degrees today! Fall is almost here! In the post you can find my favorite outfits for transitioning from summer to fall.
Where we ate
One of the biggest things when I visit a new place like a city or state, is making sure the food is good, I'm sure you can agree with me on that! Luckily, we had my brother who lives there, almost as a tour guide! Every food spot we hit was good, so all these recommendations are honest and true. All of these restaurants had really good atmospheres and vibes, and I would go to any of these again without a doubt!
Katy Ice House
We went to the Katy Ice House for lunch on Friday located next to the Katy Trail. We all met up here after our own activities in the morning. Being in Dallas during the summer, it was hot out so we sat outside. I thought this place was so cool! It's almost like a mini park, dog friendly (which is always a plus), filled with a ton of picnic tables, and actual tables, and another thing I liked were the trees that were in the "patio area." We didn't go there at night, but at night the stringed lights around the trees light up, along with the strung lights hanging. Mentioning the Texas heat, there were fans all around with water misters. 🙌🏼 🙌🏼 I got the Caeser salad, and I really liked it. After reading this post, look up some pictures, it's cool.
Mesero
We went here on Friday night. This was a Mexican restaurant that was so fun and hip! It reminded me of what a cool sushi place would be like, it had a ton of young people, the vibe was cool, and the waiters/waitresses were so nice. The burger my brother got was very good and my quesadilla was good. My favorite food on the trip: I, a sweet tooth, took the recommendation from my brother who suggested I order the "cinco leches cake." Well, short story, I ordered the cake and it was one of the best pieces I've ever eaten. It's soaked in cream which makes it so moist and the "frosting" was a sweet chilled cream. It was different than anything that I had tried before and I would go back just for a slice.
Magnolia Bakery
Yes, I'm talking about the Magnolia Bakery, not the New York City one, the Waco one, the Magnolia Silos Bakery. I am not going to go into detail about the Silos because that's coming in DALLAS pt. 2! I got the cinnamon roll, and others got the chocolate chip cookie or the cranberry orange biscuit, which were all a yummy and nutritious breakfast!
Hillstone
Saturday night we had dinner at Hillstone. It was very nice, and the food was delicious. We got the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer, and it was so good! For dinner I got the crab cake special, which was good, but the sides were even better. The fries and cole slaw were amazing! Lastly, because that wasn't enough, we got the warm five nut brownie, so good! I feel like I'm saying that a lot, but I really mean it, the food was great there.
Ascension Coffee
This place is so hip and happening! We went here on Sunday (my last day) for brunch. I was deciding between the parfait or the Paleo Muesli. I ended up going for the Muesli to try something new and it was really good. It had a different flavors with all the fruit, nuts, and yogurt with honey. Yum! Others at my table got the avocado toast, which is well known there, and the poached eggs with toast, both were delicious.
All of these restaurants were delicious, full of fun, and all around good atmospheres (everything I look for when eating out)! Again, like I said, more to come on the whole trip in another post!

Whole Foods
We were in a little bit of a crunch for time on our way to the airport. We were starving, so we had to make a quick stop at Whole Foods! We grabbed a slice of pizza and three chocolate covered pretzels. Lol, we were just trying to get on the go food. This wasn't really a restaurant, but it was good if you need a quick place to go!
